Learning to use a toilet is a really important life skill. You might not think much of it now but being able to control your bowels and recognise when to go to the toilet is very important for children to learn. Different children will learn how to do this at different times and some might struggle with it until they are older. This can be because of developmental issues or learning conditions such as autism.
Bedwetting is also extremely common. Its important to remember that it isn’t their fault and your child will learn to control themselves. Patience and understanding are really important with this part of a child’s growth and they need to learn to be confident with it. It can be embarrassing for them so having their parents’ support is vital to their growth.
